The marketplace
These terms cover use of ArtistValley, the marketplace of Artist Valley in Auroville, Tamil Nadu. You can browse without an account. Buying, bidding, and listing need an account. By creating an account, placing a bid, or checking out, you agree to these terms and to the other terms linked in the footer.
Accounts
Use your own name and an email you can open. You are responsible for your password and for what is done from your account. The gallery can suspend an account that misuses the site, including false bids or listings you have no right to sell.
Listings
A published work shows the price, the currency, and the way it is offered. Prices are not converted from one currency to another. INR prices use Indian grouping, for example ₹1,50,000. A work that is marked sold is no longer for sale.
Buying
Checkout asks you to confirm the order and the delivery details. Payment is taken only through the provider the gallery has switched on. If that provider is not connected, the order cannot be paid by card on the site. Do not send a card number by WhatsApp or in a message.
Auctions
Each lot shows its start, its end, the starting bid, the reserve, and the bid increment. Times are India time (IST). The server clock decides when a lot ends, not the clock on your phone. A bid is an offer to buy at that amount. The high bid at the close wins only if it meets the reserve. If the gallery voids a lot, it records a reason, no winner is declared, and the bids do not stand.
Sellers
The commission on a sale is the rate stored for that sale. It is snapshotted onto the order. A later change of rate does not rewrite a past order. Sellers accept the seller terms before a listing is submitted. Payouts are recorded by the gallery.
Shipping and problems
Delivery follows what is written on the work and on the order. If no shipping rate is stored for the destination, the gallery sends a quote instead of guessing a figure. Tell us about a problem with a delivered order within the returns window shown for the house. We record the report and the outcome.
House rules
Do not list work you have no right to sell, interfere with bidding, or pretend to be someone else. The gallery may refuse a listing, void an auction with a reason, or switch on maintenance. During maintenance, visitors see the gallery’s message. Sign-in stays open.
